With minimalist weddings, there is often the misconception that the color palette has to be muted or monochrome. I think this is absolute bullsh. As I’ve said before, minimalist means different things to different people, and if it’s important to the couple to include bright colors in their simple celebration, they should absolutely do so!
I love this gorgeous styled shoot from Katy Murray Photography because it focuses on simplicity and the beauty of the venue while incorporating lively and colorful details. It’s a beautiful take on simply celebrating love.
A few words from Katy Murray Photography on the motivation and inspiration behind this styled wedding shoot:
A few months ago, I began planning a styled photo session. The inspiration for the session was elegant boho, spring vibes with soft blues, beige, and lots of vibrant colors.
Towards the end of the session we were all gathered around this little section at Brookside Gardens. It reminded me of a meadow, sort of like the meadow I would imagine in the novel, The Time Travelers Wife … but with a few more trees. We had planned on doing photos with the antique chair, but then draped the cloth behind and hung the banner nearby. It really pulled everything together.
One thing I absolutely love about doing styled sessions is getting to meet likeminded individuals who have a passion for pretty details and are a joy to work with. This styled session really delivered the full package of amazing vendors (and soon to be friend-ors), and I am really happy about it.
I wanted the session to be light & airy meets a pop of color. As a photographer, I’ve been seeing a trend in light and airy; and wanted to incorporate some vibrance while also representing my personal style with some contrast and depth. The flowers were the perfect arrangement of color, while the bride’s beige dress was a gentle complement. When planning a styled session I try to get a team of vendors who pair well with my business, allowing us creative freedom to work freely within a general set of guidelines. The teal chair Boheme’s Jubilee brought was another gorgeous pop of color that completed my vision for the session. We really utilized our surroundings and used a few props/items to enhance the space, but not overpower the natural beauty in the venue and the couples love.
Enough with the words, let’s get to the photos:
